The recommendation by an Oireachtas committee examining the recommendations of the Pensions Commission, that the State Pension age should not rise beyond the age of 66 is covered broadly this morning. You can read more here and here

 

The Minister for Education has said this year’s Leaving Certificate will be held as exams only as she ruled out a hybrid approach to the State exams.

 

Meanwhile higher education bodies have warned that levels of grade inflation in this year’s Leaving Cert exams run the risk of students on high points losing out on their chosen courses due to increased use of random selection.

 

A charity accused of an “anti-union bias” has been ordered to pay nearly €14,000 for the unfair dismissal of a shop steward. Read more on that here. 

 

And finally, the CMO has said that that while the Covid-19 pandemic “is not over, it is safe to return to the activities we all enjoy”.
