400 jobs are to be created in Cork over the next six months by technology outsourcing specialist Voxpro.

The new positions will be across a variety of functions including management, training, technical support, sales, finance as well as trust and safety.

The expansion will bring the numbers employed by Voxpro at its offices in Dublin and Cork to 3,000 and globally to 5,000.

The investment will see the company open a new office in City Gate Mahon, close to its current headquarters in Cork.

The firm says it plans to expand further over the next 18 months.

The new jobs will be full-time and the growth is the result of the addition of a range of new customers across a variety of technology sectors, including advertising technology, Internet of Things, financial technology, retail, health technology, social media and ride sharing.

As well as its Irish operations, Voxpro has offices in North America, Central America, Europe and Asia and assists customers in 40 languages.

Voxpro was founded by Cork-based husband and wife team, Dan and Linda Kiely, in 1995.

It has grown significantly since then, with a rapid expansion taking place in more recent years.

A majority stake in the company was bought by Canadian business TELUS International last year in a deal that could in time be worth over €100m.

The firm provides a range of outsourcing services to large companies, including some of the biggest names in technology, like Google, Airbnb and Nest.

In order to replicate an authentic experience for its staff, the company adapts its standards and office design to match those of the customers they work on behalf of.

"This rapid growth for Voxpro is testament to the quality of service and talent displayed by our wonderful teammates, both here in Ireland and in our international locations," Mr Kiely said.

The news has been welcomed by IDA Ireland.
