The Examiner looks at public service pay increases and the cost of living amid inflation which has now reached a 22 year high.

 

The DUP will not nominate a Speaker when the North’s Assembly meets for the first time this morning, meaning business cannot proceed. Meanwhile ICTU has warned that the lack of an executive in Northern Ireland could indirectly lead to more strikes.

 

The Times reports on the Government’s move to clarify a contentious phrase in legal documents surrounding the relocation of the new National Maternity Hospital.

 

A retired government labour inspector has failed in a High Court action over what he claimed was penalisation of him within his employment because of his claims of a pro-employer bias in the Workplace Relations Commission. Read more on that here.

 

The Health Service Executive has said it is "especially difficult" to recruit cyber security staff right now because of the competition for talent.

 

Some good news, food delivery giant Deliveroo has signed a recognition deal with the GMB covering the company’s 90,000 self-employed riders in the UK.

 

And finally, the Environmental Protection Agency has found that the quality of Ireland's bathing water continued to improve in 2021.
