Senior RTÉ executives are expected to challenge accounts given by Ryan Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly about payments to Tubridy when they appear at the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday. The session will begin at 9.30am and you can watch the Oireachtas proceedings on a live stream here. RTÉ staff are angry following Ryan Tubridy’s committee appearances but the door is not fully closed to his potential return to the airwaves. Workers did not want to comment publicly on the future of the former Late Late Show host at a rally yesterday although some privately revealed they “did not buy” his or agent Noel Kelly’s version of events.

 

An expert advisory group, headed by Catherine Day, has delivered an updated report on direct provision and has said that the State is at risk of “perpetuating direct provision” instead of ending it if the correct action is not taken now.

 

The BBC has reported that new claims from staff against presenter Huw Edwards, who was yesterday revealed to be the star facing allegations over payments for sexually explicit images.

 

Uisce Éireann is warning of potential disruption to water supplies due to strike action by members of the Unite trade union. Water service workers in a number of local authorities are engaging in work stoppages today and tomorrow.

 

The State is losing out on new business and investment because of the “housing constraint”, Ibec has said.The employers’ group also warned that delaying public investment in the short term “to mitigate the risk of overheating” would hinder future economic expansion and damage competitiveness.
