The Indo reports that Aer Lingus have said that hundreds of ground staff jobs could end up being outsourced if a ballot on restructuring measures, due to take place next week, is rejected. Fórsa's cabin crew members are currently balloting on those same proposals.

The main health unions, including Fórsa, issued a joint statement yesterday, calling for an “urgent recommitment” to the Sláintecare health reform programme, following the resignation of two senior officials associated with the project. The Irish Times editorialises on it today, expressing concern over the 'drift' of "one of the most important reform plans of recent times."

The Indo continues its coverage on the issue of the state pension age, this time focusing on the Irish Fiscal Advisory Council's claim that an additional annual cost of up to €575m could be incurred by the state if the pension age remains at 66, meaning "higher taxes or spending cuts loom." A report due from Pensions Commission is expected to recommend that the age should not rise at all until 2028

Smaller retailers are understandably fearful its arrival may severely damage their businesses.

Elsewhere, The National Concert Hall marked its 40th anniversary yesterday, and the return of a live audience for the first time in 18 months. Deirdre Falvey spoke to some of the excited punters last night.
