The big news this morning is that NPHET has advised to the Governemnt to introduce further restrictions. This could include the closure of pubs and restaurants at 5pm from Monday and a 50% capacity at cultural gatherings.

 

Pfizer's Paxiovid pill has been fiven the emergency go-ahead by Europs's medical experts in some positive news. Paxlovid has proven effective in preventing people becoming seriously ill with Covid-19 and is effective against the Omicron variant, according to Pfizer. 

 

The Irish Times reports that the Irish Prison Service has abandoned the use of electronic tagging for offenders 12 years after it was first introduced, citing concerns about value for money.

 

According to the Irish Independent: Permanent TSB has signed a legal agreement to acquire €7.6bn of assets from Ulster Bank, moving the ultimate deal significantly closer to completion.
