The group representing rank and file gardaí have criticised the Garda Commissioner as he introduces a new roster while they claim there are not enough gardaí to fulfil staffing levels of the new arrangement. Both garda representative groups, AGSI as well as the Garda Representative Association (GRA) had voted against accepting the arrangements for gardaí.

The boat that picked up the pair was the oldest in the company's fleet and the trip that saved Mr Shaddock's life would likely be its last.
