#Fórsa2022 news digest
by Niall Shanahan

Good morning colleagues,

RTE's Work & Technology correspondent Brian O'Donovan mingled with delegates yesterday and caught some of the concerns of members about the impact of inflation, while Gavin Jennings talked to Kevin Callinan about pay, inflation, the social wage and upcoming pay talks. You can hear all of that here, and RTE's TV reports are available here (1pm) and here (SixOne).

Emmet Malone is here for the Irish Times and reports that a return to "a form of social partnership with measures from Government to address the high cost of services like child and healthcare could significantly shape the approach of unions on the issue of pay in the forthcoming talks on a new public sector agreement."

Malone also spoke to school secretary delegates, who said schools are dipping into’ allocation for secretaries to pay rising bills, and he compiled some vox pops from conference delegates here, featuring SNA activist Linda O'Sullivan and former Fórsa legend Margaret Coughlan, among others.

The Irish Examiner sent Cianan Brennan who reports "The slow pace of talks on creating affordable public services is exacerbating the cost-of-living crisis" and Kevin Callinan's comments yesterday on the important role of the social wage, in addition to comments by Kevin on the upcoming pay talks, and he also reports on yesterday's motions on remote working.

Ralph Riegel reportsfor the Irish Independent, the Irish Mirror reports on pay issuesat conference, and Killarney Today also picks up the story, while Cliff Taylor in the Irish Times has more here on the social wage. It's a useful read, while on the same note the Tánaiste says the Government is is looking at further measures to help with the cost of living crisis, "in particular focusing on childcare and public transport proposals."

Ashley Connolly spoke to Newstalk Breakfast's Shane Coleman very early this morning about the findings from Fórsa’s menstrual health survey. You can listen back here.

All your conference essentials are available here, and today's conference timetable (below) opens with an address from ICTU general secretary Patricia King.

Have a great conference day.
