Ryanair pilots in four countries may co-ordinate strike action next Friday. Before that though, Ryanair have called on Fórsa to meet for talks next Tuesday under the condition no further strikes are called.

 

In Zimbabwe there's ongoing unrest as soldiers patrol the streets of Harare just a day after three opposition protestors were killed in post-election clashes.

 

If you're keen on Twitter, you may have noticed a lot of talk yesterday on the proposed 'Granny grant.' Independent TD and Minister for transport, Shane Ross offered and defended the pre-Budget proposal for a €1,000 grant for grandparents who provide childcare for their grandchildren. However, it's been met with widespread opposition from other political parties as well as some speculation it's a hunt for the 'grey vote'.

 

Meanwhile, children's charity Barnardos has said that an increasing number of parents are being forced into debt to cover the cost of sending their children to school.

 

Finally, your Zen today is a collection of films and tv shows that are coming to Netflix this month. There's something for everyone with different genres such as comedies, thrillers and family favourites. I, for one, am particularly excited to become a living stereotype some Sunday afternoon and watch Bridget Jones's Baby in my pyjamas with a carton of Ben & Jerry's.
