Firstly, here's a look at some of today's front pages.

 

Fire fighters have voted no confidence motions in senior public service officials overseeing fire services.  Fórsa and Siptu have sought a meeting with the Minister to discuss adequate training, risk assessments and resources in the wake of the fire at the Metro Hotel in Ballymun last Wednesday. 

 

One of the top news stories today is the winding down of the Government's Strategic Communications Unit, with a reformed Government Information Service to take its place.

 

RTE report that some Ryanair cabin crew in Portugal will go ahead with one-day strikes during the Easter holidays.

 

The Indo reports that Irish Rail drivers have been offered talks on a reduction in their working week to avoid an all-out strike.

 

In other  industrial relations news the Labour Court is carrying out a review of each Joint Labour Committee (JLC). The last review was completed in April 2013 and the Court must complete this review by 22nd April 2018.

 

In Australia, employers are relying on "strong legal grounds" to overturn the merger of the militant construction and maritime unions, despite the new union now formally established.
