Outdoor Munching
by Bernard Harbor

Every title anticipates today's Government announcement on the easing of Covid restrictions, which looks set to set 19th July as the date for lifting curbs on international travel for those eligible under the EU's digital green certificate. But the continuing standoff over Belarusian piracy is causing more headaches for aviation

The speculation has hotels reopening on 2nd June, followed by outdoor hospitality and cinemas on 7th June, and pubs and indoor dining on 5th July. Meanwhile, the nurses want to meet the HSE over their AstraZeneca fears and Ireland's Hairdressing Council is blaming a mix of nixers and PUP payments for a staffing crisis in our salons

On housing, the Indo predicts a ratch-up in rents this summer, and the Times believes over 1,000 new apartments in Dublin's O'Devaney Gardens development are to be snapped up by institutional investors.

In money news, the OPW's in the firing line over the cost and capacity of a new Garda HQ, the Euro's more popular in Ireland than anywhere else, and the HSE cyber attack will soak up at least €100 million of precious resources.

Elsewhere, the Musicians Union of Ireland and Siptu are hosting a virtual Gig for Gaza on Monday evening, with proceeds going to the Middle East Children's Alliance. And you can catch a conversation between everyone's favourite US President and everyone's favourite Man Utd player on Penguin UK's YouTube channel from 2.00pm today.

Long Zen brings you a 20-minute virtual tour of the Royal Academy's Tracey Emin/Edvard Munch exhibition (be warned, this contains nude images). Short Zen's a 'happy birthday' to 53-year-old Kylie. I can't get her out of my head.

Enjoy the weekend.
