The Times and Journal both picked up Fórsa’s response to the recent Garda drug testing plan, carrying its statement that its members could not be tested “without reason and a legal basis for doing so,” while Fórsa's Derek Mullen spoke about the issue on last night's Nine News on RTE.


Aer Lingus chief executive Lynne Embleton will face politicians later this month after a row stalled a meeting between the airline and an Oireachtas committee. The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport and Communications Networks postponed a meeting with Aer Lingus corporate affairs chief Donal Moriarty on Wednesday, after members demanded that Ms Embleton appear.

 

Elsewhere, the “Save Shannon Airport,” a petition launched on Change.org, has received more than 7 thousand signatures in support since launching less than a week ago.

 

The National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) says the gap between two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine can now be reduced from 12 weeks to eight.

A warning has been issued over malicious software affecting users of Android phones in Ireland, which can potentially allow criminals to steal passwords and sensitive data, such as financial information. The scammers typically send a text message containing a link for the victim to click on to access details on a missed pack-age delivery. The link will direct to a fake website that will look similar to a legitimate delivery company's site.

 

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has told the Dáil that work is underway to develop a menopause workplace policy. Such a policy will look to include measures that allow work adjustments for women going through menopause, such as flexible working, and sickness leave for procedures and appointments that might be needed.

And this year's Leaving Certificate results will be issued on Friday 3 September, the Department of Education has announced. On that date Leaving Cert students who opted to sit the exams and receive accredited grades will be awarded whichever of the two grades is the higher, in each subject.
