    The resources industry is considering seeking a stay of the approval of the merger of the militant maritime and construction unions with a view to challenging it as employers brace for an escalation of unlawful industrial conduct.

    The Fair Work Commission's ruling handed down on Tuesday gave the green light to a new super union between the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union and the Maritime Union of Australia, with a total 144,000 members, combined revenue of $146 million a year and $310 million in combined assets.
