Indoor dining could resume for the fully vaccinated next week without time limits, but with stricter rules for social distancing when unvaccinated children are present, under plans to be considered by the Government today. Under the plans, Digital and paper certs will be accepted, while an app will be rolled out for businesses to check customers’ vaccination status on entry. 

Elsewhere, Irish holidaymakers in Malta were surprised to be placed in quarantine after their HSE vaccine certs were not accepted. 


New methods to buy tickets and pay fares on public transport could be rolled out within the next three years, the National Transport Authority has revealed. The Journal reports that digital payment options that would allow passengers to pay with contactless bank cards, smartphones and QR codes could be available by 2023.

Workers from the early childcare sector in Tipperary are seeking better pay and conditions through the recently launched ‘New Deal for Early Years’ campaign by a number of groups involved in the sector. Campaigners are calling on the Government to begin the process of reforming the childcare system in Budget 2022.

Meanwhile, an estimated one third of student nurses and midwives have yet to be paid the backdated pandemic placement grant due to technical and tax difficulties, the University Times reports.
