The Children’s Ombudsman has said that any restrictions placed on children should be “proportionate” and “time sensitive” as he said it was clear Covid was now leaving a mark on the psyche of children.

Ombudsman Niall Muldoon said there was an “in-built unfairness” in that parents may be able to go on a night out while children are being asked to restrict their movements.
