Cases over pay deductions could open floodgates to more litigation

Challenges by two public servants against pension- related deductions, introduced by the Government during the financial crisis, are only the first of a number awaiting litigation, a court heard yesterday.

Barrister Stephen O'Sullivan, counsel for two part-time workers at the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Tallaght, Dublin, told Judge Kathryn Hutton in the Circuit Civil Court that their claims were lead cases in a number yet to come before the court.
