The Irish Times reports that Irish-based Ryanair pilots are balloting for strike action. The vote, involving members of Fórsa's IALPA branch is due to take place on the 9th August, and follows similar ongoing pay disputes in British Airways.
The Psychiatric Nurses Association (PNA) suspended industrial action planned for yesterday evening, in a dispute with the HSE over the recruitment and retention of mental health staff. PNA General Secretary Peter Hughes said there has been extensive engagement with the HSE over the previous 24-hours, and that a number of matters had been addressed following discussions in the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), and that other issues will be referred to the Labour Court.
RTÉ reports that up to 1,000 jobs may be lost at a power plant Shannonbridge, Co. Offaly. The Bord na Móna facility have been refused permission to continue to burn peat past a December 2020 deadline until 2027, while it transitioned to burning biomass fuel.
