New CSO figures show that the average yearly wage has hit an all-time high, with earnings surpassing the last peak in 2008. Annual average income now sits at €38,871 in Ireland. 

Some more news regarding wages comes from Minister Regina Doherty, who has promised to roll out new rules to stop employers using tips to make up wages, ensuring greater fairness for workers and transparency for customers.

On another matter related to that same Minister, two TDs have challenged Ms Doherty on the CE Supervisor pension issue, saying that schemes around the country will fall under threat if the matter is not resolved. 

The Centenary International Labour Conference is currently underway in Geneva from now until 21^st June, with Kevin Callinan is in attendance. Ireland became a member of the International Labour Organisation in 1923 and it was the first international organisation the new State joined. The ILO will soon complete negotiations on a new law to prohibit, prevent and remedy violence and harassment in the workplace - we published a blog on this last week. 

Lots of industrial aviation news this morning as both Ryanair and the International Airlines Group are facing fresh threats of strike action by their British-based pilots. Meanwhile, regional air traffic controllers employed by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited are suspending industrial action pending a ballot on a new pay offer.
