Yesterday, Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin confirmed agreement has been reached on a one-year extension to the confidence and supply agreement, and ruled out a general election in 2019.

 

Fossil fuels account for 90% of the energy used in Ireland. The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has said Ireland is facing a significant and urgent challenge to reduce the use of fossil fuels, and the authority says Ireland still has a considerable way to go to meet its renewable energy targets for 2020.

 

The cost of renting in Ireland continued to rise between July and September, according to new data from the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB). The RTB said the increase in the cost of renting has slowed and that the number of landlords in Ireland is falling, despite high rental prices and record demand.

 

Two Dublin primary schools are planing for the return of children to their original classrooms after precautionary works to address structural safety concerns at the schools have been completed. It follows structural flaws being discovered in a number of schools around the country earlier this year.
