Housing minister Eoghan Murphy said he was open to a referendum on Irish Water as Fórsa and other unions shared their views with an Oireachtas committee yesterday. Enthusiasts can see the whole thing on Oireachtas TV.

We were also treated to more positive coverage of the Government's libraries' strategy, which was launched after Fórsa members backed a deal to enhance staffing and protect against risks associated with so-called staffless libraries. In fairness, Minister Michael Ring credited the union deal in his press release, and this was picked up in some - but not all - of the coverage. See also yesterday's Digest.

Plenty of health news this morning, what with waiting lists, highly-paid clinicians, and the HSE saying it isn't stalling the Scally inquiry into Cervical Check.

Elsewhere, Kildare and Wicklow ETB is the news for all the wrong reasons, the Central Bank says hard Brexit is our biggest economic threat, and most titles report that we haven't built as many homes as we've been led to believe.

It saddens me to report that the treasured Dr Marten's boot has been rendered uncool since last Friday, when The Economist published a cover graphic featuring Trump in a pair. Zen marks its untimely demise with an insight into how the iconic footwear is made (If I were you I'd watch this at lunchtime as it's seven minutes long).
