Third level education funding: Student and higher education staff unite to unveil results of opinion research and outline Budget demands tomorrow (Wednesday 13th June 2018)

The results of a Behaviour & Attitudes survey of public attitudes towards public investment in third-level education will be unveiled at an event at 11am in the Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, tomorrow (Wednesday13th June).
 
Commissioned by the Coalition for Publicly-Funded Higher Education, the results are based on interviews with over 1,000 people aged over 16 in 63 randomly-selected locations.
 
The Coalition will also outline its assessment of the minimum additional investment in higher education required in Budget 2019.
 
The event will also see the publication of a Coalition for Publicly-Funded Higher Education research paper on issues related to higher education funding, including proposals for fees and student loans, investment needs, access and affordability, postgraduate funding, quality risks, services and supports, and working conditions in higher education.
 
Members of the Oireachtas are invited to attend.
 
The Coalition for Publicly-Funded Higher Education comprises the following organisations: Fórsa, the Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT), the Irish Second-Level Students’ Union (ISSU), SIPTU, the Teachers Union of Ireland (TUI), and the Union of Students in Ireland (USI). Representatives of each organisation will attend the event.
