Here’s a look at this morning’s front pages, which largely cover the new extension and tightening of restrictions announced yesterday, as well as the grim news of UK’s death toll exceeding 100,000 as of yesterday, alongside Boris Johnson’s apology for the pandemic response. Ireland’s own death toll surpassed 3,000 as the Department of Health confirmed a further 90 deaths.

 

A further tightening of incoming travel has also been confirmed, including mandatory 14-day quarantine in hotels for arrivals from ‘high-risk areas’ such as Brazil and South Africa and those without a negative PCR test. The government also said that those entering the country from non ‘high-risk’ areas will be required to self-isolate at home by law for the first time.
