News that 10% of PUP payments went to ineligible people spurs wider concerns over checks on over €17 billion of pandemic-related spending this morning, which also brings news of another resignation-related Sláintecare blow.

 

There' still plenty on what the media now collectively call the 'pandemic bonus,' with this providing particularly uncomfortable reading for the teacher unions. Editorials on IR matters are seldom a good sign

 

Meanwhile, the Examiner has politicians queuing up to demand sanctions on health officials involved in the 'Grace' case.

 

In brighter news, our newest technological university opens today and, despite falling revenue and new demands, local authorities improved their performance last year according to a new performance report.

 

In my enthusiasm to mark the 30th anniversary of Nevermind last Friday, I missed the fact that the same day marked 50 years since the release of the first LP I ever owned.
