It's quite the day for headlines with news just breaking that Boris Johnson has agreed to resign, but wants to stay on as PM until a new Tory leader is elected by autumn. The decision comes amid a Cabinet revolt with 53 of his own MPs quitting their government roles at last count.
Closer to home, Donegal TD Joe McHugh has resigned the Fine Gael party whip in a move which sees the Government lose its majority in the Dáil. Mr McHugh voted against the Government in the second stage vote in the Dáil on legislation to provide redress to homeowners affected by defective blocks.
