Dear members,
Action Alert: Stand With Palestine
Over the last eighteen months, as a result of Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza, more than 15,000 children have died and 34,000 been injured.
Wednesday, 4th June marks International UN Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, and on that day, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions is inviting all workers, as well as their families, colleagues, neighbours and employers, to take a moment and remember those victims.
What are we asking people to do?
We are calling on members to #StandWithPalestine at 1.05pm on Wednesday 4th June. Take a photo and post on your social media channels, using the hashtag #StandWithPalestine.
This is a simple act of solidarity and remembrance which can be marked in all workplaces from schools, to hospitals, public institutions, and even by anyone working from home.
We have created posters you can print in A4 format on a printer at home or at work.

Why are we doing this?
Many of us have seen the horrifying scenes from Gaza escalate over the last number of weeks as the conflict has entered a particularly brutal stage. Adding to the horror, since the 2nd of March Israel has enforced a total blockade on Gaza, using food as a weapon of war against Palestinians, leading to mass starvation. Last week the Tánaiste described the actions by the Israeli government as “genocidal activity.”
Fórsa has a proud tradition of speaking out against injustice across the world and in Palestine in particular. Last year's biennial conference saw members bring seven motions on Palestine to the conference floor. Since then, we have sought to give effect to these motions, and our members have not shied away from protesting on this issue, month after month. Our action on Wednesday 4th June forms part of that work.
Thank you,
Kevin Donoghue
