Hundreds of workers from the aviation sector are taking part in a protest outside the Department of Health in Dublin calling on the Government to allow rapid antigen testing for international travel.

The demonstration, by the Recover Irish Aviation Group, handed in a letter for Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan, inviting him to take part in talks on the matter.

The group said it is illogical not to allow antigen testing for travel along with the EU Digital Covid Certificate.

The president of the Irish Airline Pilots Association, Evan Cullen, said there has been no rational or coherent public health argument put forward to the support the NPHET position.

The organisers said that all those attending have undergone supervised antigen testing in advance of the demonstration.
