ICTU has spoken against the levels of pay that Chief Executives in 26 top companies in Ireland receive, after a recent report revealed it would take an average worker more than 50 years to earn what half of CEOs at top firms are paid each year, highlighting an unjustifiable gap.
The Government is seeking to reduce the number of senior posts in an Garda Síochána by 30 as part of the introduction of a new Garda operating model. Successful applicants will be offered six months wages as well as full pension as part of an early retirement scheme.

56% of childcare professionals earn less than Living Wage, the ‘Early Years Sector Profile Report’ by the State funded agency POBAL has revealed. The report showed that Early Years educators are earning just €11.46 per hour on average, which is 84 cent below the Living Wage of €12.30 per hour.
An additional 230,000 homecare hours will be provided by the HSE next year, according to its service plan for 2020 which will be published later today.
