The National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) has recommended that no more than four households should mix over the Christmas period. It last night sent a letter to Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly which recommends a maximum of six people at a table in bars and restaurants, the closure of nightclubs and limits on households mixing. 

 

Alec Balwin appeared in his first interview since the tragic accident which led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust. The actor, 63, accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Hutchins when a prop gun he was holding went off during filming for the Western in New Mexico. You can read more about the interview here:

 

Justice Minister, Helen McEntee has said that a new government scheme for undocumented migrants will allow those who have been living here for at least four years to “come out of the shadows”. The new scheme will give around 17,000 undocumented migrants an opportunity to remain in the State.

 

Tanaiste Leo Varadkar launched Redesdale's 75 million food fund yesterday. Enterprise Ireland is providing 15 million in funding which will provide seed and early stage capital to Irish food entrepreneurs.

 

In other news Dublin City could soon have its first public lido after plans for a white-water rafting course in the Docklands are no longer proceeding following a “failure” to convince state bodies to support the proposal.
