Deferral of planned escalation of industrial action on 4th December
by Chris Cully

For the attention of Tusla clerical admin grades III to VI

Dear member,

I wrote to you last week regarding the union’s decision to escalate our industrial action from Monday the 4th of December. I write to you again today to advise you that the Disputes Committee met yesterday morning following receipt of an invitation to the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) to explore the issues surrounding the dispute and ascertain if it is possible to find a route to resolution.

The WRC also informed us that their assistance in this dispute would be conditional on the union “pausing” its escalation of industrial action.

The Disputes Committee decided to agree to exploratory talks under the auspices of the WRC and to “pause” the escalation of our industrial action to allow for those talks to take place. The WRC date is scheduled for Monday 4th December 2023.

Consequently, I write to inform members that the planned escalation of industrial action is currently paused.

Please note our existing instruction relating to the ongoing industrial action, in place since 25th October, still remain in place.  It is only the additional actions for the planned escalation from the 4th of December that are now paused.
