Thank you Jack

As we headed into the weekend a number of outlets picked up on the news about the ballot by Ryanair cabin crew on a pay agreement. Barry O'Halloran's report in the Irish Times is here.

At midnight last night it became compulsory to wear a mask on public transport. Elsewhere, an infectious disease specialist says we need to properly enforce quarantine rules on incoming passengers. Airlines and tour operators will be told to inform customers flying into Ireland they must quarantine on arrival for 14 days, as the Government considers a wide range of measures to improve compliance, while insureance costs continue to bring the shutters down on Ireland's leisure facilities.

Pat Leahy cautions us all on the unspoken problem of the growing deficit, while in the same paper Seamus Coffey from UCC counsels the new government on borrowing sustainably and spending sensibly in response to the Covid-19 crisis. Former public expenditure minister Brendan Howlin has warned the Taoiseach that recent changes to the rules on distributing the EU's €750bn package are unlikely to deliver significantly more than the €3bn allocated to Ireland. It's an issue we've been keeping an eye for the news bulletins.

Your moment of Zen celebrates the return of Bristol's finest. On Friday Massive Attack announced the release of ‘Eutopia’, a new audio-visual EP featuring collaborations with Young Fathers, Saul Williams and the US band Algiers. Recorded in three different cities during lockdown, the three tracks are accompanied by some mind-bending visuals of the usual high standard we expect from these guys. You can view the collaboration with Young Fathers by clicking the image above, while the Algiers track is in the embedded viewing pain below. The Saul Williams track is available here. Enjoy, and have a good week.
