Recently, all unions representing non-teaching staff in the education sector were asked to make a submission about issues of concern to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills on non-teaching staff in schools.

The Fórsa education division made a submission on behalf of a number of the professions that we represent in the sector, including SNAs, school secretaries and caretakers. In our submission, we used the opportunity to highlight in particular areas that are not covered by the NCSE review.

It appears, however, that the language used to describe the 72 hour issue in our submission has caused some concern. Therefore, the union has issued this bulletin to state, unequivocally, the Fórsa position in relation to the 72 hours.
