RTÉ news reports that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has said it's concerned about poor operation practices at some water treatment plants and that the incidence of the cryptosporidium parasite in drinking water has increased in the past three years.

 

The Irish Times reports that Irish European Commissioner Phil Hogan is expected to be confirmed today as the European Union’s chief trade negotiator

 

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) have an article on the common struggle of trade unions and environmental organisations, by Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI) economist Paul Goldrick-Kelly.

BBC news reports on the Trade Union Congress (TUC), call for a ban on 'class discrimination' at work. TUC, the British equivalent of ICTU, says graduates from wealthier families were more than twice as likely to start on a higher salary than their working-class peers.

 

RTÉ news reports meat processors have said production is to be wound down at a number of factories around the country for an unknown period of time. It also says the number of farmer protesting at factory gates has increased in recent days, with blockades of factories now widespread.
