MPs will return to Parliament at 11:30 this morning after yesterday's Supreme Court ruling. Commons Speaker John Bercow said there will be no Prime Ministers' Questions but urgent questions, ministerial statements and emergency debates will be heard.
Greta Thunberg has been hitting headlines all over the world after an impassioned speech on climate change in the UN. Trump later mocked her delivery but Thunberg showed that as well as immense bravery, she also has a sense of humour. Closer to home there are more people who underestimate Thunberg as Ryan Tubridy faced huge backlash over his comments saying she should "just go for a walk with your da or your ma."
SIPTU members employed as cleaners in Sligo Institute of Technology have voted unanimously to undertake a 48-hour work stoppage which will commence on Monday, 30th September at 8.00 a.m. in a dispute concerning a major reduction in their working hours.
Other industrial news sees Greek island ferries tied up in port and Athens public transport, hospitals and state schools facing disruption after unions went on strike against proposed labour reforms. Police said about 8,000 people marched peacefully through central Athens as they took part in three separate demonstrations called by unions and left-wing groups.
