Only a few weeks after the fatal Stoneman Douglas Highschool shooting that claimed 17 lives in Florida, at least three people were injured yesterday after a woman opened fire at YouTube's headquarters in California. The suspect was later found dead with apparent self-inflicted wounds. 

The front page of the Irish Times this morning reports that Fianna Fáil is unlikely to renew the confidence and supply deal with Fine Gael, which increases the liklihood of an election within a year.  

Minister for education, Richard Bruton has warned that strike action by teachers over two-tier payscales could trigger loss of earnings and pay freezes. He's spoken at the INTO and ASTI conferences and is due to address the TUI today. 

Ryanair has revealed a gender pay gap of 72% under new mandatory pay gap reporting laws in the UK. Women make up just 3% of the top quarter of earners. 

The life story of Harry Nicholls, leader of the Irish local government officers trade union (ILGOU) which later became part of IMPACT and now Fórsa, is told in this Engineers Journal article. Fórsa senior general secretary, Shay Cody gets a mention. 

Ireland and Ulster rugby player, Craig Gilroy, has apologised for the language he used in a WhatsApp message sent to Stuart Olding in June 2016 which emerged during the recent Belfast rugby rape trial. 

Laois GAA inter-county star, Daniel O'Reilly, has been placed in an induced coma after suffering mulitple fractures to his skull in an attack at a taxi rank in Carlow.
