IMPACT News Digest - Tuesday 13th September 2016

Good morning colleagues,

Here's a look at some of today's front pages. Tributes are being paid to Caitriona Lucas, Coast Guard member who died off the coast of Co Clare yesterday.  Caitriona was a librarian with Clare County Council and a member of the Clare Branch of IMPACT. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to her family and work colleagues.

Minister Michael Noonan has ruled out any dramatic cuts to USC in next month’s budget and warns against budget giveaways.

Nursing graduates promised jobs just a few weeks ago have been devastated after the HSE have been accused of withdrawing the offer.

General learning courses, brought about by a Solas revamp  have attracted 157,000 people.  Elsewhere, a €16m social housing project in Cork city has been sanctioned.  It is the first of a package of social housing projects which Cork City Council hopes to start work on over the next six months. The schemes will deliver up to 400 social housing units across the city.

Today's Zen tells us having your own office, sharing with just one other or working from home achieves the optimal scenario for workplace harmony.

Enjoy your day.

Patricia O'Mahony
