General Election Special e-bulletin - pay restoration in the community & voluntary sector

We asked the parties: do you support pay restoration in the community & voluntary sector? The parties replied:

Fine Gael would “gradually increase not decrease funding” to the sector and “will develop a supporting infrastructure”.
Labour would seek “a sustainable multi-annual funding model for the sector” and “a better system of public supports”.
Fianna Fáil would create a new Cabinet Minister for Community Support & Development who will ensure “the sector is adequately funded and regulated”.
Sinn Féin would invest €36m in the sector. They would introduce multi-annual minimum funding. They would introduce VAT refunds and amend the Charities Act to recognise human rights promotion as charitable activity.
The AAA / PBP believe that “workers in [the sector] should be treated the same as other public sector workers”.
“The Social Democrats support pay restoration for staff working in the community and voluntary sector”.
Renua Ireland states that it ”cannot simply disassemble government agreements”.

The parties’ answers show that there is no political consensus on pay restoration in your sector. Clarity is needed. Help put this issue on the agenda. Sign the petition at caringatwhatcost.ie.
