Union members, their families and friends are invited to Liberty Hall, this Sunday night (22nd) for a unique theatrical commemoration of the centenary of the 1913 Lockout.

Actress Sabina Higgins, a life long trade unionist and member of Siptu, will join relatives of James Larkin and James Connolly in the Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin for the concert, which begins at 7.30pm.

“September 1913” is hosted by the Larkin Hedge School, and is inspired by the WB Yeats poem of the same name. The evening will feature poems, music, readings and songs. Ms Higgins will read from the writings of Maud Gonne and Countess Markievicz.

Artist Brian Maguire has designed a specially commissioned set, inspired by the poem's lines “What need you, being come to sense, But fumble in a greasy till”.

Directed by Des Geraghty the concert will feature musicians Steve Cooney, Liam O‘Connor and Peter Browne. They will be joined by acclaimed singers Len Graham, Tommy Sands and Mary McPartlan.

Poet Theo Dorgan will also be joined by Stella Larkin, granddaughter of Jim Larkin, and James Connolly Heron, great grandson of James Connolly in performing poems and readings.
