A review of civil service incremental credit arrangements is to take place. It will be carried out by a sub-committee of the civil service General Council, which is made up of management and staff representatives.

The review is to consider issues arising from the more liberal incremental credit arrangements in place in the health and education sectors, as well as specific cases that have arisen in the civil service. It will also have an eye to developments in EU law and the impact of Brexit.

Fórsa’s head of civil service, Derek Mullen, said the sub-committee would review current arrangements with a view to agreeing a new circular, which would consolidate the current circulars and reflect current needs.

“The union very much welcomes this important development, and it’s timely to review an incremental credit policy that has been place since the early 2000s,” he said.
