Fórsa has entered the concluding phase of negotiations that will see a restructuring of the development specialist grade in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The agreement will see the introduction of a new ‘development specialist officer’ grade to be filled from open competition. The agreement shows a commitment to the important work carried out on behalf of the country by the development specialist discipline.

The restructuring of the grade is key to meeting state goals under Irish Aid’s new policy for international development, A Better World.

The new policy outlines the expansion of Ireland’s development co-operation programme and the government’s commitment to reach the target of 0.7% of GDP allocated to development assistance by 2030.
