The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage is reviewing the qualifications required to be a planner working for a local authority.
Stakeholders have been invited to take part in the consultation, and Fórsa is currently drafting a formal submission.
If you would like to contribute to the union’s submission, please get in touch by emailing lghelp@forsa.ie. We will continue to accept contributions until Wednesday 18 March at 5pm.
‘Qualifications’ includes both the educational and experience requirements necessary to apply for planning roles of all grades across local authorities.
Urging members to take part, head of division Richy Carrothers said: “If you are already working in planning in a local authority, you know best what is required to do the job well so please do get in touch with us. Your work is of enormous importance, and getting the requirements for these roles right will be of benefit to everyone.”
