A resolution proposal designed to address the issue of the lack of access to occupational pensions for CE supervisors is expected very soon.

CE supervisors and assistant supervisors do not have access to an occupational pension despite a 2008 Labour Court ruling. The issue led to continuing industrial action, which commenced in February, and a sustained political campaign this year

Fórsa official, Ian McDonnell said both the public expenditure minister, Michael McGrath and social protection minister, Heather Humphreys have reiterated their commitment to resolve this issue: “We’ve had strong indications from both ministers that a resolution proposal is on its way.

“It’s been a long wait for the 1,250 staff involved, with many retiring from their jobs while the 2008 Labour Court recommendation remains outstanding. It has not been easy for anyone involved, but we remain hopeful that a positive resolution might be realised in the near future,” he said.
