Gearing up for mental health
by Róisín McKane

Fórsa’s Limerick Health and Welfare branch presented Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention with a donation last month, to the value of €6701.25.

The contribution came from funds raised from the union’s traditional conference charity cycle in aid of mental health charities.

The cycle saw union activists and staff don their cycle gear and bike from Limerick to the INEC in Killarney, ahead of conference proceedings.

Proceeds from the cycle were distributed amongst four charities: Let’s Get Talking, Suicide or Survive, Jigsaw Kerry and Limerick Suicide Watch.

All are involved in suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and support for families who have been bereaved by suicide.

The initiative was organised by Fórsa officials Éamonn Donnelly and Dessie Robinson. In previous years, the dynamic duo had organised charity cycles that raised over €150,000 in total.
