Talks on safe return to council workplaces

Fórsa is to write the Local Government Management Agency (LGMA), which represents local authority employers, to identify additional measures required to ensure the safety of council workplaces as they reopen under the Government’s ‘roadmap for reopening society and business.’

Waste recycling decision welcomed

Fórsa has welcomed this week’s (Monday’s) decision by Dublin City councillors to defer a proposed sale of a Ballymount waste recycling facility. The decision was shelved until a study looking at bringing the capital’s refuse and waste services back into public control is completed.

Tackling food poverty during a pandemic

A member of Fórsa’s Boards and Voluntary Agencies branch has led an initiative that’s providing weekly food parcels to 21 extra families during the Covid-19 crisis. Crosscare youth worker and union activist John O’Hara saw a marked increase in the demand for support since the onset of the virus, and sought donations to fund additional aid for families.
