The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has confirmed 27th May as the date for a conciliation on competitions for local authority senior executive officer posts. The union is arguing that the competition should be confined on the same basis as those for clerical and administrative grade III-VII posts.

Half of all promotions between grades IV to VII are confined to the local authority sector under a 2019 agreement, which was also brokered by the WRC. Some 20% are confined to the employing local authority and 30% are open to public competition.
