Fórsa has challenged local authority employers to provide details of all outsourced local authority contracts.

The union believes it will be better placed to return services to direct provision if it has this information.

The data was sought by Fórsa and other unions at the Local Authority National Council meeting last Thursday (24th September). The unions want the information six months prior to the expiration of contracts.

Head of Fórsa’s local government and municipal employees divisions, Peter Nolan, explained that this information will assist the union in campaigning for the provision of local authority services by direct labour.

“The Public Service Stability Agreement (PSSA) supports the provision of public services by direct labour. This information will empower the union to campaign further on this issue,” he said.

The Local Government Management Agency (LGMA), which represents council employers, has agreed to request this information from local authorities.

It’s never been more important – or more easy – to get the protections and benefits of union membership. Join Fórsa HERE or contact the union HERE.
