Survey on safe handling of HMPs
by Mark Corcoran

Fórsa is encouraging all healthcare workers involved in handling hazardous medicinal products (HMPs) to participate in a survey to understand the prevalence and level of awareness regarding safe handling and other preventive measures for HMPs.

HMPs, including cytotoxics, immunosuppressants, antivirals, and some other medicines, are used to treat a wide range of medical conditions, but their handling can have adverse health impacts on healthcare workers, including cancer, reproductive disorders, headache, hair loss, and more.

The European Biosafety Network is distributing this survey to various healthcare professional associations, trade unions, colleges, societies, and agencies to understand the prevalence and safety procedures in place for workers.

By completing this survey, Fórsa members can share their valuable insights and voice their opinions and experiences regarding the risk of occupational exposure to HMPs, and the measures in place to prevent it.

The survey results will be used to identify where improvements can be made in raising awareness and applying measures to protect healthcare workers.

The survey can be completed by following this link and entries close of the 28th of July 2023.

There’s never been a better time to join a union, and it’s never been easier. Join Fórsa today.
