Fórsa sought engagement with the Passport Office following the implementation of new work patterns without consultation or agreement by the union.

The union sought discussions following contact from a number of Fórsa members, concerned that their employer had introduced new working arrangements that extended beyond the agreed flexi-time periods. Some were incorrectly told by management that the imposition of these new measures had been agreed with the union.

Fórsa official Seán Carabini explained: “We had the new working pattern removed and have informed management that any alternative working arrangements must be designed with, and agreed by, the members affected.

“The particular issue of misinformation relayed to staff is of particular concern. We’ve assured our members in the Passport Office that no such agreement has been made with the union,” he said.

"Positive discussions with human resources have taken place in recent days, with a view to resolving the issue," said Seán.
