Local Government Blended Working review underway

Fórsa has triggered the review clause of the Local Authorities’ Blended Working Framework.

Most local authorities are now operating a blended working model with varying degrees of application and uptake. Where it is granted, most local authorities have implemented no more than two days available for blended working.

The union is currently negotiating with the LGMA in an attempt to finalise an agreement which formally embeds blended working across the sector, and that covers as many workers as possible, as per the policy adopted at Fórsa’s divisional conference in May 2023.

At the Local Government and Local Services Divisional Conference, the ‘Blended Working Framework’ which was introduced in the local government sector following intensive pursuit of the policy by Fórsa, was welcomed, and a policy was adopted by members calling for the establishment of blended working across all local authorities and embedding blended work into the sector.

It also called to make blended work options available to members to the greatest extent possible and to underpin any agreed policy with a fair, transparent, and equitable appeals mechanism.
