Fόrsa has asked the Local Authority Oversight Group, which monitors the implementation of the national pay deal in the sector, to intervene in a dispute about annual leave for staff who are acting up in a higher grade.

 

This follows moves by some local authorities to put staff on reduced leave levels while they are performing the duties of a higher grade.

 

Fόrsa National Secretary Peter Nolan said local government workers had previously been kept on existing leave levels, even after new national leave levels were introduced, until they were properly promoted.

 

“This is simply unfair. There is no basis for the employer’s position in the Public Service Stability Agreement. That’s why we have asked the oversight group to intervene,” he said.
