A deal to that would see cabin crew working hours and pay restored to 100% from December 2021 has been reached following lengthy negotiations at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).

Fórsa’s Aer Lingus Cabin Crew branch informed its members yesterday morning (Thursday) of the content of the proposal document, which it will now put to a ballot with a recommendation in favour of the agreement.

In its memo to members, the branch said its committee had worked hard to get to this point, which follows the catastrophic financial impact of the pandemic on the aviation industry worldwide.

“In May 2021, the company proposed their original structural change agenda. Several negotiation meetings occurred between your representatives and the company prior to going to the WRC.

“Following this, the conciliation process was long and painstaking. Our focus throughout these negotiations was to try and achieve the best outcome we could for cabin crew in the circumstances, focusing on pay and job security,” it said.

The proposal, if accepted in the ballot of cabin crew members, would mean:

  • Cabin crew pay will remain at 100% post December
  • The protection of the 15-point scale
  • The pay freeze will be shortened, to conclude 31st December 2024.
  • Increments will continue to be paid.

The proposals also include reductions in sales commission from 12% to 7%, changes to crewing complements on A330 flights, and reductions in pay and sick pay for new entrants.

The memo asks that cabin crew members take time to digest the document in full as ballot arrangements are finalised. Branch representatives will be available through email and via planned webinars to answer queries and hear feedback from members.
